If you do not follow Pro-Football you probably do not know the name Drew Brees. He is the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints and is one of the top at his position.
Rarely do I accept the apologies of folks who ally themselves with hate groups, like Focus on the Family. I post this diary not in the hopes that it will get a lot of hits...as I know not many people on the Great Orange Satan are football fans, but to show how an apology can and should be done.
Brees appeared in the following video...now you might disagree with its message .. to bring your bible to school on a certain day...but I do not think that alone is reason to fault the man. The problem is, the ad was from Focus on the Family.
Not being gay or active in much of politics Brees said he was unaware of the group’s anti-gay agenda and when he found out he spoke out forcibly against their hate speech.
First he came out with the following:
Then again he spoke out against hate speech, directly against the GLBTQ community.
...he lives his life by “two very simple Christian fundamentals.”
“That is love the lord with all your heart, mind and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself,” he explained, adding that he loves, respects and accepts “all people, no matter your race, your color, your religious preference, your sexual orientation, your political beliefs — it doesn’t matter.”
Now if more religious folks would follow his example, in my view, we would be a better place.
